Auroville

A Magnificent space in Southern India along the East Coast Road.

The weatherman issued an orange alert to the coastal areas and I badly wanted to go for a drop-in yoga class in Auroville. Boots wants to ride my scooter from Chennai to Auroville but unfortunately, we took a bus. No matter what vehicle I am in, traveling along the coastal road brings a cheery smile somewhere beneath my nostrils!

Boots carried my yoga mat down to Auroville from the bus stop and we stepped into an aromatic antique shop that had woven clothes, antiques, handicrafts, candles, essential oils, and Incense sticks. A perfect place for a yoga teacher! We shopped for a traditional diffuser, aromatic perfume oil, Jasmine candle, and Incense sticks. When Boots stepped out of the shop, a cool breeze wiped his face. The clouds began to have a get-together!

Though the initial parts of Auroville were flooded with plastics in the corner of the roads, it showcased its raw beauty as we travel deep into it. This phrase reminds me of humans, we judge everyone with one or two external actions of them forgetting the pure soul residing deep inside us. It is as pure as milk but has been mixed with three Gunas namely

  • Satvik, the calm and composed
  • Rajasic, the violent
  • Tamasic, the ignorant

The permutations and combinations of these Gunas can be experienced by each of us every time! When the electric bicycle was a bit expensive for us, the Rajasic Guna danced in me which made us walk extra kilometers to get the normal bicycle so that I can ride it to the upcoming yoga class despite having a rental scooter with us. Oops, Pathetic Boots!

We dined Thai curry with brown rice and a tofu burger at Naturellement garden cafe. It is a perfect place for self interospection or even dating!

Garden Cafe, Auroville, India

Though the Auroville beach was unpleasant, Matrimandir, Dense flora, muddy yet neat routes, french people who smile at you every time you see them, cheap fuel rates comparatively, beautiful cafes with baking aroma, adorable strong arms of women, confident women bikers, bicycles, yoga studios, neat stays, stunning topographies magnetized my mind to stay there for extra hours. Boots had the same magnet property running all over his veins after listening to various bird sounds early morning at 5:00 AM during our stay. “We will be back again” shouted Boots to the two cats roaming in our living room. He was playing running and chasing those cats last night! I was sitting there admiring them, penning down that life is all about these tiny moments happening lively in front of me.

It is a must-visit place…
